I Need Nothing But You

O, Lord I need nothing but you

But I want so much

And so much I do

That doesn’t glorify you!

But you guide me with your watching hand

And stand next to me during the storm

Till I reach your beautiful land

And then  I will see you face to face!

O the joy when I see that face that died for me…

TO BE CONTINUED…

Happy Anniversary

My mother and father I love

For who they are

Their love outshines mine by far

It is a small token of God’s

Who loves us much more.

This day fourteen years

Have gone by

To you it is like a breath or a sigh

But three years later I

Came to you

To hopefully bless you

And cherish God too

Happy fourteen year anniversary          Andrew

Cars 2

When I was five or six years old, the movie Cars came out. As I remember sitting in the movie theater looking in awe at the hundreds of cars that were racing, I didn’t get all out of the movie like I do now. So Cars 2 wasn’t as good of a story as the first movie about the proud young rookie racer Lighting McQueen who gets lost in a town where he really learns to be a more humble car and makes friends. Cars 2, no doubt, was a good movie, but didn’t have as good as a story as the first one.  Even though it had more action and a cool plot, it didn’t have the same morals as the first movie. I totally recommend Cars 2 as it was a great movie and if you see it, I hope you will enjoy!

Handicapped Grace

If you watched the song I put up, Remind Me Who I Am, by Jason Gray, you will be surprised to learn he has a handicap. He has a speech impediment. He says ” I don’t stutter when I sing, but I do it when I talk.”  He has this wonderful voice and can write beautiful songs, and yet, he has this hard speech impediment that can be awkward in public when speaking.   Yet he says, ” I think that my handicap is annoying, but then I think this is what God had for me and should bear with it.”   When I heard that I was just like wow, wow!  It was amazing how much faith, courage, and grace he had when he said that.   God can use all of us in spite of our weaknesses.  In fact, God loves to use broken things, so that He gets all the glory!  I hope you will enjoy Jason as much as I have. Perhaps you will find out that he is one of your favorite song writers because I have found out he is one of mine.

Remind Me Who I Am

This morning, my dad showed me this music video by Jason Gray that he found at the Rabbit Room. This song really made me think about God’s mercy and kindness and love to such undeserving sinners. I hope you enjoy watching!

Bloody Crimes

Recently,I read a book called Bloody Crimes by James Swanson, bestselling author of Manhunt. The book was about the funeral pageant for Abraham Lincoln and the chase for Jefferson Davis. I was more interested in the chase for Jefferson Davis, but the other part of the book was still intriguing and fascinating. Funny enough, both presidents were born in Kentucky ( by the way that’s where I live) and lived less than one hundred miles apart, but were born into totally different families. Lincoln’s family lived in a one room log cabin and he worked so hard to became educated while Davis’s family lived in a fairly big house and was brought up well-educated. The book has many more interesting facts like that. In all ways though, I would recommend the book totally.  If younger kids are interested, than Bloody Times is an easier version to read ( I think).

Terrible Swift Sword

Terrible Swift Sword is a documentary on the Civil War. From the friendships started in the Mexican War and the issue of slavery to the friends breaking up and going  to where their loyalties lie till the end of the war, this documentary covers it all and in  tremendous fashion. From filmed battle staged videos, famous pictures, and real battle strategy and quotes it is superb. I recommend it to everybody who enjoys history or the American Civil War. You’ll love it!

Chicago

Well,as you know my family went on vacation to Chicago. Chicago was very exciting. First, we walked to Wrigley field which we walked around and saw the inside of ( unfortunately it was all-star week so we couldn’t go to a game). And of course, we had our Chicago dog which we got at a restaurant called Flub A Dub Chub ( weird name, I know). Then we walked to  the  Lincoln Park Zoo which was free. We saw all kinds of animals like a rhino, lion, jaguar, tiger, a serval, African wild dog, gorillas, monkeys, and penguins. After resting our tired feet at the hotel  we then got our deep dish pizza. All I can say about that is yum, yum, yum! The next day mom and dad surprised me by taking me to Legoland which was amazing! They had a little Lego mini-land which was very cool with the Sears Tower at 11.5 feet tall;it took over one million bricks to build Chicago! Then we explored a jungle which had all kinds of Lego animals in it. We also took a dragon ride which took us through Medieval castle all built with legos, of course. We say many other cool things in Legoland too, but too much to write down. Last, but not least, we went to see the Wardrobe and many Narnian and Tolkienish artifacts at the Wade Center at Wheaton College. Awesome! So this sums up our adventure in Chicago!

Going to the Windy City for Vacation

My family is excited about going to Chicago for a four day vacation! I will write about our adventures when we come back, so don’t worry if I don’t write for a couple of more days.
